Regretfully, we announce the cancellation of the market for the spring/summer 2013 season

About Us

Maize Market Management is a not for profit company formed to run the Yorktown Farmers' Market. Our idea was to create a new business model for operating a market that would benefit all involved. We have worked to keep vendor's costs down, while still being able to generate enough income to give a generous donation each week to a local charity. Other than our insurance premium, all monies generated go back into the community, starting with the Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1.  Since they are run by donations, we felt it was the best place to start our "giving chain".  By renting the field from them, they now have 22 weeks of guaranteed income they can count on.

We also wanted to call attention to the amazing charitable works that go on in our area.  By providing a different not for profit with a free table at the market each week, they can raise public awareness of what they do, give out information on their own fundraisers, and maybe even get some donations from generous shoppers. M3 will also contribute a percentage of the day's vendor fees to the charity (COW).

It is also our goal to convert some of our residents into "locavores". We want to highlight the benefits of shopping and eating locally, and to teach our kids to continue this re-emerging trend.  By providing a family oriented market where kids and their parents can come to talk with farmers, sample their offerings, and learn about our agricultural history, we hope residents will value our Yorktown Farmers' Market.
